Hello and welcome to my slice of the internet! I’m Brittany, a twenty-something writer, foodie and pop culture lover.
I started heyitsbkay.com in 2017 as a way to write out my thoughts on the intersection of social justice movements and how pop culture and media reflect those movements.
My love for celebrity gossip, Real Housewives drama, and Bachelor Nation shows started in middle school with Laguna Beach (Team LC!) and was mostly a secret pleasure until tweeting all my opinions about the aforementioned shows introduced me to parts (read: pits) of the internet where folks like to get their reality TV fix just as much as I do.
Now, I proudly proclaim pop culture as my part-time job and full-time hobby, from 90 Day to the Keeping Up, I am here for it all!
Heyitsbkay.com is my personal pop culture pit where I recap shows I’m watching, give my take on celebrity news and talk about how popular media is shaping culture and why that matters. There will also be sprinkles of my personal life because I wouldn’t be a millennial if I didn’t occasionally overshare on the internet.
Currently, I’m recapping Michelle Young’s season of the Bachelorette and I’d love for you to join me as I live tweet on Tuesday nights! My recaps will go up every Wednesday.
When I’m not deep in the comments of Bachelor Nation contestants on Instagram, (#LookingForMess) I can be found interviewing sources, brainstorming witty headlines, or writing well over my target word count for various niche and national publications as a freelance journalist.
I’m just excited I’ve found a way to get out my unsolicited thoughts and opinions that absolutely not one asked for and I’m glad you’re along for the ride!
